Project 7 (best to date): New exterior stain/paint

OK...we had absolutely NOTHING to do with all of the work involved for this next home transformation, except for finally deciding on stain/paint colors (which was an arduous process and required much compromising and voting by friends/family members).  From the first moment we saw our new house, we KNEW that on the '1st-yr To Do List' was for a complete exterior facelift (landscaping to follow in years 2+...).  The original cedar shakes were in sad shape from 10+ years of weather and neglect, not to mention the washed out shutters and door color.  Nothing was welcoming about the exterior of the house.
Our amazing painting contractor and his crew were unbelievable -- worked tirelessly from 7 am until 6 pm for 2+ weeks to finish the project.

I'm pretty sure you will agree that this was a job for the professionals...and the finished product completely blew away our expectations.  Here's the transformation...

Our siding was in BAD shape...not to mention it's the middle of winter and nothing is green/blooming.  Blah.

STEP 1 was a MASSIVE cleaning job...hard to believe all of the 'gunk' that was on the house.

STEP 2 was deciding on the color palette.  Colin 'won' the decision on the stain color for the shingles, and Hannah & I got to pick the shutter and door colors (you'll notice the girly-influence on the door color).

Step 3 was the stain on the - so much better already!

STEP 4 was to add some finishing touches...

All I can say is...WOW!!!!!  We went from the ugly duckling on the street to a major showpiece.  Just beautiful!  And perfectly reflects our beach-side community that we so love.

This door color is just GORGEOUS!!!  And the new hardware is like that perfect piece of jewelry that finishes an outfit.

Next year, we'll hopefully tackle the ugly white aluminum storm door (want to replace with a more modern wooden version painted the same color as the door) plus the barn lights over the garage.  And, of course...we're overdue for some landscaping and lawn improvements.  BUT we are just so pleased with how this project turned out. Wahoo - this was one MAJOR item to check off of our very long To Do list!
